Craig H. Zalvan, M.D., F.A.C.S.
A graduate of Brandeis University, Waltham, MA, Craig Zalvan, M.D. went on to Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Zalvan completed his residency training in Otolaryngology/Head & Neck Surgery at the Manhattan Eye Ear & Throat Hospital and at the New York Presbyterian Hospital. In addition, he has trained at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center, and Lenox Hill Hospital. He went on to complete his Fellowship in Laryngology: Voice and Swallowing Disorders at Roosevelt Hospital/St. Luke's Medical Center. Dr. Zalvan is certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology/Head & Neck Surgery. He has been listed regularly as one of Westchester's “Best Doctors” as well as New York Magazine's Castle Connolly "Top Doctors". Dr. Zalvan's specialties include Adult and Pediatric Voice and Swallowing Disorders, Professional voice disorders, Vocal Fold Paralysis, Spasmodic Dysphonia, Neurolaryngology, Laryngopharyngeal Reflux, the Aging Voice, Zenker's Diverticulum, Laryngeal Cancer, Chronic Cough, and any disorders of the throat.
Dr. Zalvan is a laryngologist: ENT specializing in voice, swallowing, cough, and throat disroders. Dr. Zalvan has introduced a number of highly sophisticated techniques to the Westchester area including office based KTP laser surgery for vocal fold and throat abnormalities. He has performed the largest number of injection laryngoplasties for vocal fold paralysis as well as highly advanced techniques such as medialization thyroplasty, arytenoid adduction, and laryngeal reinnervation. In addition, he is the leading expert in office based biopsy and surgery for laryngeal lesions. Dr. Zalvan is an expert in evaluating and treating swallowing disorders. He regularly performs office, non-sedated, trans-nasal esophagoscopy and swallowing testing. In addition, he performs 24 hour pH testing using a new, more comfortable system to measure acid levels in the throat to help diagnose laryngopharyngeal reflux, or LPR. He has extensive experience with diagnosis and treatment using Botox for spasmodic dysphonia. Additionally, he is the only full time laryngologist offering advanced laryngeal electromyography (EMG) for diagnosis of paralytic and neurological disorders affecting the voice.

Dr. Zalvan is presently the Medical Director at the Institute for Voice and Swallowing Disorders at Phelps Memorial Hospital Center and Director of Laryngology at the New York Medical College/Westchester Medical Center. He lectures internationally and nationally and has done numerous presentations, publications, and research projects on topics such as: chronic cough, laryngopharyngeal reflux, EMG of chronic cough patients, Dysphgia, laryngeal sensory testing and many other IRB approved studies.
